Web/Systems Admininistrator

This is a contract opportunity.
Job Summary:
• Support, maintain, upgrade, patch, troubleshoot and administer DMZ, intranet and extranet application environments (web and application software).
Support, maintain, upgrade, patch, troubleshoot and administer a multi-tiered intranet/internet/DMZ web environment according to established Service Level Agreements (SLA).
• Manage and resolve trouble tickets for web environment or 3rd party software related issues.
• Work with other Systems Administrators to resolve any web environment related problems or outages.
• Document web environment changes according to established change management procedures, creating runbooks, procedures, work instructions, etc.
• Deploy upgrades and patches to test, development, staging and production environments according to established change management procedures.
• Manage user and application security in web environment.
• Assist project teams in the design and integration of new projects into the existing web environment.
• Proactively/reactively ensure that the web environment is functioning properly at all times.
Participate in an on-call pager rotation for 24×7 support of web environment.
Proactive monitoring and tuning of web environment to address potential performance or capacity issues.
• Participate in service restoration teams (SRT) to address complex web environment related issues.
• Determine the root cause of web environment outages with recommendations for long term corrections.
• Work with outside vendors for product installation and system configuration processes.
Participate in security reviewing, scanning and monitoring of the production, staging and development environments, including Technical Vulnerability Assessments.
Conducts technical research and evaluation of tools and methodologies to ensure that designs adhere to current industry, client and company standards. Assists in developing technical documentation; participates in test-plan development, integration and deployment.
• Participates in selecting, acquiring, configuring and troubleshooting packaged solutions and technical infrastructure components.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience in installation, maintenance, troubleshooting of middleware products particularly Apache, Tomcat, Jboss, MediaWiki, WordPress
• Experience in installation, maintenance, troubleshooting of Informatica, Business Objects, Documentum, Peoplesoft desired but not required
• Ability to develop automation scripts for administration purposes (perl, ksh, etc) strongly desired but not required.
• Some knowledge of PHP and JAVA language strongly desired
• Solid understanding of front-end/back-end and multi-tiered web environments.
• Solid understanding of configuring web servers to connect to Oracle/SQL back-end database resources.

• Ability to learn how business issues may impact overall business plans
• Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve complex issues in relation to single and multi-tiered load balanced web environments.
• Ability to assist development community in troubleshooting application functionality issues in web environment.
• Ability to manage and prioritize many competing tasks.
• Ability to perform work independently on assignments with all unusual issues being escalated to the web team lead.
• Good documentation skills
Additional Detail **Apache is critical- Tons of installs, patches and support. This is all done on a Unix operating system so they must know Unix extensively. They will also be setting up aliases, scanning log files, changing time outs etc… They will also be responsible for rewrite rules, setting up and administering blogs. Apache is the front side of Tomcat and JBoss so they need to know those as well. Lastly is Java. They will not be doing any development.
