freelance High Traffic Enterprise level SW Developer: Groovy, MVC Framework

Software Developer is needed to work on a team building reusable site templates on a custom MVC framework. This system will host various International web sites as they are migrated from disparate local technology stacks onto our new centralized web platform. In addition to hands-on development, this individual will have to communicate with various other technology groups and often write technical specifications for other groups to follow when the actual development needs to happen on a system that we do not directly maintain.
Technical Skills:
Proficient In: Groovy, JSP, or similar templating language. XML, XSLT, CSS, Spring framework or comparable MVC framework.
Familiar with: JavaScript, Apache, UNIX environments, SVN or comparable version control system.
Nice to have: Java, MySQL, JSON, Eclipse, PHP, ActionScript, Flex.
Experience:
• 5+ years of web application development experience for large high-traffic web sites. Only developers with enterprise-level development experience will be considered.
• Object-oriented approach to middle & front end development, embracing basic OOD/OOP concepts such as inheritance and code reuse.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Comfortable working with both an IDE (Eclipse) and in a Unix/Linux environment.
• End-to-end understanding of web applications from the database & application servers to CSS and HTML.
• Experience developing web sites for media companies is a plus.
• Experience with the Scrum framework or the Agile Development is a plus.
Responsibilities:
• Create and debug dynamic web pages based on mockups and functional specifications from product development and design teams.
• Work closely with product development to understand business objectives and provide the best possible solution given time constraints and technology available.
• Collaboration with other developers in various groups across the company.
• Ability to write clear and detailed technical requirements for other technology groups to follow.
• Patience, discipline, and a close attention to detail when writing code, unit testing, and debugging.
