GSI's e-commerce solution includes Web site design and development, e-commerce technology, managed hosting, order fulfillment, customer service, merchandising and order management, online merchandising, customer relationship management, content development and online marketing. The company operates either all or a portion of the e-commerce businesses for approximately 85 partners. GSI Commerce trades on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange under the symbol, GSIC.

This position is a combination of Common Services Team Manager and Performance Engineering Lead. The Common Services Team supports QA Automation, Tools and Performance Engineering.

Basic Function:

Responsible for setting policies, procedures and practices for the Common Services Team. Maintain awareness of new system implementations, Quality Assurance and technological advancements. Ensure high staff productivity and morale through training, coaching, and management. Monitor performance of team players; assist in the preparation of team player Career Development Plans, the salary decision process, and coaching for direct reports. Handle overall resource management for QA. Actively pursue process improvement opportunities.

Provides guidance and technical mentoring for Performance Engineers. Defines, develops, maintains, and executes performance testing for IT systems in accordance to project scope and/or maintenance improvements. Ensures performance testing is complete and performance risks and/or issues are identified prior to implementation. Manages defects from identification to closure through the Release Life Cycle.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

' Leads the QA Common Services Team through the execution of the tactical plan. Participates on the definition of the strategic team.
' Prepares test estimates and project schedules.
' Plans, monitors and tracks individual project staffing efforts.
' Serves as an escalation path for QA Common Services support activities.
' Assists in setting standards, metrics and best practices for the QA team.
' Works with VP and Director to define the QA strategy.
' Ensures team adherence to established standards and methodologies.
' Develops and sustains appropriate relationship with peers and other project team members.
' Participates in the evaluation and base lining of client area application system processes in preparation for proposed project and enhancement implementations
' Evaluates system functions and response times while acknowledging the impact to the end user; suggests changes for efficiencies within or between systems, as it impacts projects and enhancements prior to implementation.
' Extrapolate data outputs as a result of executed performance scripts; research, evaluate and recommend the most efficient and cost effective solution for performance enhancements and repeatability.
' Defines, develops and maintains performance testing library; reviews performance test scripts and provides feedback and technical support to less experienced team players.
' Independently executes performance test plans based on planned project schedules and in accordance with QA methodology.
' Proactively escalates issues to the QA Lead and alerts the project team on potential impact to the systems and testing schedule.
' Records and tracks defects uncovered during the performance testing execution; drives defect towards .resolution; proposes and designs retest cases and data; contributes to the defect management: defect status, root cause, daily triage meeting.
' Provides timely and accurate status defect information and appropriate metrics to facilitate QA reporting; reports individual status: dashboard information, open issues, risk analysis.
' Participates on Testing Production Support though rotating on-call responsibilities; provides consistent and uninterrupted testing service to the organization and minimizes risk of systems down time.
' Reviews requirements and specifications for potential performance risks/issues and provides input during requirements and specification walkthroughs.
' Contributes to the development of the performance test plans and project testing approach.
' Contributes performance strategies to the development of project and release Test Plan documents; understands and contributes to the process of performance test estimates and project schedules.
' Participates in performance test planning, test case design and test script walkthroughs with QA Leads; understands performance testing to be accomplished and suggests changes for efficiencies within or between projects; actively participates and contributes to the QA Performance Test Design.
' Assists in the preparation of performance test estimates and project schedules.
' Adheres to established performance standards and methodologies; utilizes performance tools and methodologies to improve individual effectiveness and to increase efficiencies in the QA process
' Develops and executes SQL queries.
' Develops and sustains appropriate relationship with peers and other project team members.
' Coordinates and performs the evaluation of Software Test and Performance tools and develops the Test Tool Evaluation report.
' Coordinates and performs code reviews and walkthroughs of the Performance testing scripts ensuring compliance with the Programming Standards and Best Practices. Recommends code improvements.

The QA Common Services Manager reports to the Vice President, QA.

Supervision Exercised:
Automation / Performance Engineers, Senior Engineers and Lead(s) report into the Common Services Manager.
